Picasso Dress

Picasso Dress & Hat  Designed, styled, hand printed and made all by me. Shoes Doc Martens from Libertys.

I have been working on this dress for quite some time now,it's for a uni project and I really wanted to challenge myself to create something outside of my comfort zone. Normally I love everything to be rainbow, sparkly and nipped in at the waist so this is quite a slick departure for me. The print is inspired by photo's taken in Venice that I have modified into graphics creating quite an 80's feel. There is obviously the influence of Picasso which although literal, brings the fun element into the outfit, I hope you like it!

Simple British Style

Blazer vintage Jaeger (Made in Britian as well which makes me happy) £9 Charity shop / Dress Camden market £15 / Shoes from my beloved Red or Dead /

So quite a different look for me today! Now y'all know I love me a bit of colour and ghettofabulousness but every so often I do like to go for a bit of 'minimal-chic'.Well my version of minimal-chic at least, this is about as plain as I probably get to be honest. You are never going to see me wearing jeans and a t-shirt I am just not that kinda girl.

Any way back to today's outfit I have styled the blazer in three different ways:

1. On the shoulders- Have a gorgeous new blazer but don't want it to swamp your entire outfit? Wear it on your shoulders, it won't fall off therefore showing your gorgeous new purchase as well as the rest of your outfit. I love doing this because it always look retro and is quite handy if your in a chilly restaurant.

2.Skinny waist belt- Now emphasis on the SKINNY, you want it to be a barely-there band literally to nip your waist in slightly without overpowering the actual blazer. This also adds subtly detail to your outfit so be careful to keep your jewellery simplistic in keeping as well.I'm not actually wearing any and have instead opted for a simple bowler hat.

3.Done all the way up- Great for days when you want to be lazy with your outfit underneath, just let your blazer do all the talking.Go for a simple dress or black disco pants look great as well. This creates a cute "boyish" look, keep the hair and make-ultra feminine if you don't won't to wade too far into the androgynous zone.

Hope you like this outfit,I would love to know what you think about this different look for me!

PARROTS AND BLING

Fake leather trackies Matalan £16/ Parrot shirt £10 Portobello Market / Heels ZARA £29.99/Necklace Topshop £8/ Parrot earrings £2 Primark /

Today's post is based around these fake leather  trackies from Matalan (£16) and how to style them in an innovative way. Wearing trackies is huge at the moment but I really didn't want to put mine with trainers *cliche* so I opted for these ZARA heels instead. I really wanted to tie the shirt around my waist but I always do that ,so Jacob forced me out of my comfort zone and made me tuck it in .

I especially love shirts done all the way up and even more when a garish necklace is put underneath! Those with amazing eyesight will also see that my earrings are little matching parrots as well, not intentionally bought to go with the shirt but it's nice when life works out like that isn't it?

FRUIT SUNDAE

So the sun came out briefly and me and Jacob banged this fruity ensemble together, possibly one of my favourite outfits of all time if I'm honest! I love it because it is "typical jess". I found the shirt on the £1 rail in the RSPCA, if your not into "thrifting" I cannot recommend it enough! Like I said in my previous post my head is stuck firmly on what I want to wear in summer and although fruit print might be "old" , when it comes to summer floral and fruit will always be in fashion! At the moment I'm attempting to streamline my wardrobe via ebay so it is going to take a lot for me to be tempted to buy something new atm.If your a sucker for pretty/ridiculous clothes like me , think of these 3 simple rules when shopping:

1. Can you think of at least 3 ways to style the item with clothes you already have ? (if not your imagination will run wild and you'll soon be in the changing rooms putting together a whole new outfit when you only came in for a top).

2.Is it going to go out of fashion soon ? It is better to buy what suits you instead of being a slave to trends. You'll look back a year later and think "what was I thinking, I wish I could get that money back now! ".

3.Does it fit ? I mean really fit, not "oh I'll just put a waist belt round it,it's in the SALE after all" or "it's fine I'll just breathe in. A proper FIT is everything, don't compromise how you feel in something because if you look uncomfortable it will show.

Hope this helps!

Glamorous Yeti

Coat TOPSHOP £27(with student discount!)  / dress (worn as top) Topshop £30ish / Skirt Primarni FIVER!!!

So my heart skipped an actual beat yesterday in Topshop when I discovered this coat that I have been lusting over since wayyyy before xmas, was reduced to £30 in my size-MEANT TO BE! With a cheeky bit of student discount I actually snagged it for £27 so I'm super happy, what with the crappy weather I can get loads of wear out of it. Also you may have noticed I've finally got my act together and dyed my hair a respectable all over dark brown (even though it looks more black and slightly witch-ish :/).What do you think ? Treated myself to a middle parting for a change as well,my current hair plan is to grow it until I resemble Princess Jasmine <3 Another bargain was this skirt for a fiver that I no doubt will style up in a few different ways for summer as well.My brain is totally in summer mode at the moment,is yours?

On the other hand...

Top handmade crochet from the charity shop £3 / Jeans River Island £15/  Necklace Clothing Loves

Say hello to my new favourite necklace courtesy of Clothing Loves I've actually had my eye on this for quite a while and was pleasently surprised with how big it is! I loves me some big ole' bling and naturally thought it would go well with this crocheted top as you do.Next time I wear it I think I will go for minimalism and let it stand out a bit more...

Owl Bag Fox Dress

 Dress Topshop £60 / Bag Amsterdam market £20 / Earrings Primark £1 / Cardigan Red Herring £12

Hey gurlz whats up ? If the length of my roots are making you feel slightly sick, fear not I have actually dyed my hair almost black today! It was meant to be dark brown but has actually come out more black so I now resemble a witch :/ Now y'all know me I like a bargain and I mean this dress was kinda a bargain as it was originally marked £130...but yeah I know £60 is pretty steep but come on its hand painted! It's from TOPSHOP's limited edition collection and is also leather,so a cute little woodland creature look today hope you like! :)

Psychedelic Printzess

Today I am wearing my vintage Jaeger dress from Ebay! It is estimated to be from the 70's and is in mint condition,I am in love! I am very excited to have Jacob collaborate with me on the blog now because to is so fun having him help dress me up like a lil dolly and take my pictures in the car park while on lookers look at us like we're mental <3
